If you are visiting our little site, I’ll take this post to provide a glimpse into what this little universe is all about. A “Box of Upticks”, for those who don’t know, comes from the trading floor. A Box of Upticks is what you send the youngsters (clerks usually) to get, almost always followed by a similar quest for the Keys to the Clearing House. You see, there aren’t any “Keys to the Clearing House”, nor does there exist a “Box of Upticks”. They are part of a rite of passage, made up objects to acquire along a make believe journey. It’s always good for a laugh (even if it’s you on the journey) and it can go on for a surprising amount of time. I think in many ways that journey goes on your whole life. Sometimes you’re in on the joke, sometimes you are the joke. The important thing is keeping your sense of humor because at many points along the journey, that’s all you’ve got.

We talk about pretty much anything, we definitely take sides, but really only on the big stuff. From time to time we’ll throw in some commentary about whatever is bugging us or making us particularly happy. Whatever it is I can assure you we’ll never take ourselves too seriously, there are plenty of people doing that already. Feel free to chime in, we always welcome a healthy discourse. Enjoy!
